I know you are out there, you sick devils you! Oops, that includes me-HA! Come one now, how could you not love that face??? Sherilyn--Eddie says I wuv u!

Okay a little more civilized photo of the blue bear.....again, just in from chasing girls outside, totally ungroomed and hungry for the bait his human girlie has. Eddie is just a little over 4 yrs old now.

Gruesome twosome update

Boys, I've grown to love my boys. Just ask Moose, Eddie, Turner, etc. But these two, ugh. The gruesome twosome is the new nickname. Walt and Charlie are inseperable, unless you mention dinner. Here's a couple new photos of them-now both are slightly slimy, unbrushed and want what the UBD has on the floor-their squeaky toy. Oh for reference-5 mos old.

Charlie is in an out of balance stage, parts growing faster then others. But I just love his head, we just wonder what voice in that head he listens too the most. Yes, Charlie hears voices-heehee.

Walter, oh Walter. Again, legs growing faster then the rest of him can keep up. A silly boy with buckets of harsh coat. Waiting to see what his head ends up like, a little narrow right now and his ears sit off center-yes you heard that. His left ear tilts more to the side then the right. Can't figure that one out, but hope as his head widens it fixes itself. Oh and the right ear, yes you see it too-white hair on the inside.

I'm the first one to point out what I don't like in my dogs, unlike others, I prefer to have it out in the open. But I'm also one to say what I love about them-both boys have the lovely round feet, substance and bone that I wanted. Outgoing personalities and nice fronts and shoulders. Didn't get all I wanted in one package, that's typical but we'll just have to see how these two boys mature out.

Procrastination at its best

There are days the I just put off doing anything and everything. Nothing trips my trigger, nothing gets my blood pumping. And there are days that there is just too much to do and I put off the small things.

Damn good thing I do that or I might be out a fist full of money! Surprised earlier with the prospect of a mini vacation with the hubby. It’s of course a working vacation, can’t have it simply a leisure weekend, can we? So instead of going to an obedience trial in a couple of weeks, we are headed to WI to wine, dine and look at a couple Clydesdale farms for perspective studs for the clyde girls.

I had the entries all made out and the envelope addressed for the trial and it’s been shredded now. Can’t wait for our trip! Thoughts of a no dog, no kid weekend and the possibility of clyde foals in 2012 is going to make the next couple of weeks drag. Granted the dogs were ready for the trial but there’s always another show around the corner. Hey, that means I have more time to screw up the dogs before we enter the ring!

water=fire

David pops his head in the door last night while doing chores. He's wearing a very warn out barn coat and that damn hat.

Hat--military surplus green puke colored khaki thing. Used to have Russian military insignia buttons on it. Used to, dogs got ahold of it a couple weeks ago and took off the buttons, ate the ear flap snaps and peed on it. That's pretty much what all of us think of the ridiculus thing. But it keep his head warm. It's also got the Elmer Fudd ear flaps on it. I just forbid him from wearing it in public.

Anyway, head pops in door to grab a different flash light. "fire in the water trough"

Huh??? I must have looked at him with a "whatyoutalkin' bout" face.

"Fire"
"Water Trough"
"Gotta Go"
"NOW"

Huh?

So I go get my shoes on, find my coat--totally in no hurry as I just can't get the thought process moving with those three words. Go to the kitchen sink, get the fire extinguisher though still not sure why I need it for a fire in a water trough, and walk out to the barn.

No fire.

SOOOOO......I guess one of the dogs had unplugged the water heater in the water trough earlier in the day. The horses drank down the water, but the heater(a floating one) was caught in some ice and was hanging slightly above the now lower water level. Large horse that drags hay to into the water trough, had left it's usual mouthful, which is now resting on the heating elements of the heater-not plugged in yet.

David noticed the ice, saw the cord unplugged, plugged in and went about his business. Short time later, 4' flames spewing out of the water trough from the hay sitting on the now hot heating element in the water tank. IE---Fire in the Water Trough.

I'm still giggling. New water heater purchased today. New, larger fire extinguisher for barn, also purchased. Reminder to self to make sure he checks the water level before plugging it in next time.

Re-gifting

Thanks dear, I love it. Grumble, cough, hack, sniffle, it's a lovely gift, even if I gave it to you first. Yes folks, the cold, it has been regifted to me from David. Oh joy. I hate being sick.

Skipped the show this weekend. No majors, there's another grumble. Love it when people complain about the lack of communication, and when it's so close, no one peeps up. And that would be why I really don't care anymore to say what our plans are. If you see me, oh joy, not then oh well, catch next time around. It's the cold, sorry folks. But it was okay, the weather was too damn cold to do anything other then errands this weekend, oh and have visitors to meet the dogs. Someone fell in love with Eddie. Sherilyn is shaking her head over in DM wondering if that person is a little off, just like me :) heehee, gotta be a little off kilter to love Edweirdo.

Sunday, Meredith, Moose, Luna and I roadtripped it to Il to deliver Luna to her new home with Ron and Marsha. Cold. Cold. Did I mention it was cold? Got to meet Frankie, their blue cardigan who is just a bundle of energy and happy. Luna didn't mind him at all and he's sooo happy to have someone to play with. I've been promised loads of photos, so will post those as soon as I get them.

Rio got his first taste of freedom since he's been at our place. David was sooooo impressed. He figured with all the squirellness that Rio has, trimming his hoof with the quarter cracks would be a bear-nope. Perfect angel, stood there like a statue, not a flinch, nothing. David said it was a joy to work with him. So he went out in the pasture, played tag with Torey and looked at the barn as though it held an evil demon. Moo's now in his stall and well, not that happy, though it's bigger then where he was.

Was going to try to watch Eukanuba, but the Packers and Bears won out, sort of. I knew how the "movie" ended with Euk anyway. At the start of the 2nd quarter, I went in and took a nap with Moose. Damn cold. I got nothing else done except dinner.

Did I mention that I'm going to figure out how to regift my regifted cold?

Hum...

It's always nice to take a long drive with the kids. The Ms in the back seat with her headphones on(still wondering where her Fearless cd is) and Alec up front co-piloting. We talked about dogs, shows and school. On the school front, though he is finishing up his agribusiness degree, he's looking at what the future holds. He really wants to get into farming full time-lots of options available for him in the direction he wants to go but in the meantime he's going to start working part-time for my cousin this spring, maybe pick up an extra job with a local forage contractor and then....seriously thinking about going back to school to get his German degree. One thing we wished he would have done in the beginning as that really is one of his niches. He then is thinking about working for an agribusiness company overseas or even taking a job as an ESL teacher in the community college.

So the long drive, not that long but fun to take the 3 amigos, aka Charlie, Luna and Walt, oh and Dill to a fun match. And fun it was. Dill had a melt down and little momitis, so new strategy with him. Alec turned about as red as his beard when they were in the ring. Charlie had Kerri giggling ring side because he's soooo happy in the ring that he wags his tail so hard that his bum bounces as he moves. Luna-I swear the look she gave me was one of sheer evil. The Ms had her out in the ring, I was watching. I know she was telling me that I needed to watch my slippers when I got home as she was planning on shredding them. And Walt, shadows of his grandpa. He said the only way you will get to look at my teeth is if I am upside down on the table and that you scratch my tummy afterwards. This time Alec was redder then his beard. Charlie ended up with a puppy group 2--not to shabby for the baby. What was even more fun was Kerri and her boy Michael who had a bad experience at a recent show. Moose was ever the gentleman and played nice and encouraging with him. Maybe that helped, cause they went on to BIM!!! Way to go Kerri!!!! Ms is working with Peterman right now as her new back up juniors dog. With Merlot possibly heading to the whelping box later this spring, she opted for Pete. Not too bad first time out, though they need to work out their signals and stuff, but Pete could have cared less, all she wanted was cheese!

Add to the weekend that David is still sick. When he gets sick, he's sick. No ifs, ands or buts about it. So we spent a nice quiet afternoon watching movies with what looked like mass murder on the floor--dogs sleeping on ever lap, every dog bed, blanket and in ever uncomfortable position you can imagine.

One more update! Ms Luna is headed to her new home in a week or two. She will be joining Frankie the blue cardigan in IL and spend lots of time camping during the summer with her new family.

Snowing, freezing rain and blowing snow, at least it was a scheduled inservice day for the Ms. Can't wait for the drive home!

Fired

For those keeping track, Frank was fired as chief bed dog. Something about a build-a-bear, missing eyeball and assorted nonsense that was muttered by the Ms as she gave him his pink slip.

She has now decided to leave the position vacant until further notice. Once she has settled down some, I forsee the job opening reposted. Clairee, in the meantime, has resumed her position of one-and-only-bedroom-dog.

Unfortunately for Frank, his large condo has been sublet to Charlie and he has no intention of vacating any time soon. That means Frank is sleeping in an economy apartment for now.

Senior moment-another birthday to celebrate!

I totally zoned this one off--it's the 5th birthday for the Cliche Litter!!!!!

To Rose in NE, May in IA, Zino in IA, Wally Jr in WI, Beckham in MN(funny story late about how he meet his sister's owners in the Cities one day), my favorite girl, Clover in MN, Abbey with us and of course, how can I forget my snooki dog, Moose-a-roo! Happy Barkdays!!

We have Canadian, AKC, Int'l champions, dogs in rally, agility, herding, 4-H, obedience, therapy and tracking. Granted a few were fluffs(2 of the boys and 2 of the girls) but oh well, hair is hair!

Though the whelp was without much incident, we did have to wean this litter early, at 3 1/2 weeks when Mom Tuli had a mammary gland infection that involved a pretty nasty blow out, vet visits, neurcotic tissue removal, antibiotics and well, weaning early per Doc. Not to worry, Auntie Clairee stepped in.
And yes, the Ms was helping to whelp puppies on her birthday but we did celebrate with dinner, cake and ice cream later on.

God Help Us All!

It's officially a teenager today! "It" being my youngest baby, the Ms. or gigglepuss as she's known by many(I won't go into what else giggling does to this kid).

Snowy day way back when and yes, possiblity of snow today.

She's requested canadian bacon pizza(no silly fruit on it either), cheescake and ice cream. The last provided by Grandma. A load of presents on the table after dinner and some shopping tomorrow with her birthday money.

Happy Birthday!!! 1 year till your learner's permit--watch out world, she already knows how to drive a stick!

Catching up

David and Meredith are back to work and school after their vacation. But my office isn't. A little remodeling or as I call it, deconstruction, was done and that's all there is, deconstructed office. New and bigger filing cabinet, move shelves, move desk, install new computer, download on new external hard drive all the important stuff, send stuff to storage in the basement, etc, etc, etc.

What I have is a path from the dog room to the garage door, around the filing cabinet, book case, boxes of books, etc. And that would be the reason that I haven't been posting, because I can't find my desk!

In the meantime, here's a few updates on the Dirty Dozen. I do have some photos at home to scan in of Harry(Boo x Marg), Buddy, Annie and Tannet(Abbey x Russ) and Shooter-who is now with Colleen and Murphy in WI. Those will come in a while--when I finally find the scanner too.
This is Gryffin(formerly Adolph) who lives in IL with Heather the vet tech. From her emails he and his partners in crime-Angus and Maddie, are quite the group. He also loves going to work and playing with the vet's 2 goldens for hours.
This is the lovely Annie(Beverly). Isn't she just the prettiest little girl? Kim tells me that she's the brains while her brother Tannet, is the brawn.
And this is the brawn of the two. Still quite the handsome man.
And how can I forget the Chipster. Now I'm supposed to put a disclaimer on these photos from Shelley, that they are taken with her crappy camera and with no help. So she stacks him, steps back and shoots. Can't wait to get him out in the show ring this spring!
O M G does that not look like his father or what??? I see a few judges doing double takes when both of them are in the ring together!
